The Workbench
This is my new little cave. Since Rowan was born I've been shuffled into the garage along with pretty much everything else that doesn't have a place in the house (including the cat bed and the foot-stool for the sofa!).
I'm pretty happy with my little set up now, I got some new toys just recently. Biggest one being the Bitscope BS-325N network based DSO and Logic Analyzer. It works very well, the software has a few niggles but it's completely open so I could effectively write my own if I was so compelled. Many thanks to Tyson for getting it for me!
Again, thanks to Tyson I have a CCS dsPIC Analog DSP Development Board along with the PCWHD compiler. It's pretty good too, although sometimes I wonder how these products get released with such glaring bugs in their user interfaces. Thankfully in the case of CCS the compiler works a treat and doesn't seem to have many issues. I've written quite a few little do-dads with 16F88's, 18F252's and the 18F2331 I've used in the new PICServo.
I also purchased a Spartan 3e development board from Digilent that is also sitting in a box that I've not really had the time to play with yet. I was waiting till I got some form of decent scope before I delve into the world of FPGAs. I'm really looking forward to using the many soft cores that are available at opencores.org.
More toys and not enough time!
